JKSSB 'sits on' changing bonafi de
certifi cates format, candidates distressed

Srinagar, Feb 1: The candidates
shortlisted for the post of Panchay-
at Account Assistant (PAA) have
been le “high and dry” over the
delay by the J&K Service Selection
Board (JKSSB) to make the changes
in the “fl awed” format designed to
obtain the “bonafi de certifi cates”
from outside universities.
As already reported by Greater
Kashmir, the JKSSB is demand-
ing outside universities to follow
its “archaic norms” by refusing to
entertain their standard certifi cates.
The issue has marred the selec-
tion of hundreds of the candidates
who had applied for the post of
PAA.
The selected candidates who
have pursued their undergraduate
or postgraduate courses from out-
side colleges and universities have
been asked by the JKSSB to pro-
duce a “bonafi de certifi cate” from
the concerned institutions as per
the format devised by the JKSSB.
However, the “bonafi de certifi -
cate” produced by the universities
outside J&K in favour of the stu-
dents does not match the format
designed by the JKSSB.
Greater Kashmir earlier reported
the issue wherein the Chairman
JKSSB had said that the issue
would be resolved for the conve-
nience of the candidates.
There are around 1889 vacan-
cies of PAA for which JKSSB has
shortlisted around 4000 candi-
dates for document verifi cation.
Among those who have been
called for document verifi cation
include over 300 candidates who
pursued their degrees from outside
universities and have been asked to
get the “bonafi de certifi cate” as per
the JKSSB format.
The exam for the post was con-
ducted by the JKSSB in November
last year followed by the declara-
tion of the results in the last week
of December.
“JKSSB is not giving clarifi ca-
tion on bonafi de certifi cate format.
The fi nal list will be published in a
couple of days. We are worried that
we will lose the opportunity for this
job as the board is not accepting
our bonafi de certifi cates given by
our universities,” said an aggrieved
candidate.
The candidates said that they
approached JKSSB several times
to inquire about the changes made
in the format devised to obtain the
“bonafi de certifi cate”.
“But they don’t give any reply
to our pleas,” the candidates said.
Chairman JKSSB, Khalid Jehan-
gir told Greater Kashmir that they
would address the issue a er com-
pleting document verifi cation of the
candidates.
“Our members in JKSSB will get
free once the document verifi cation
gets completed. They will resolve
the grievance of these candidates
a er that,” he said
