    Sketching out her imagination, teenager Mehak puts 'life in portraits'

    Bandipora, July 08: 17-year-old Mehak Mohi-ud-din is sketching her imagination with a pencil. She is not giving up on the childhood dream she had aspired for. Despite meagre means to chisel her skills further, Mehak continues to chase her dream of a sketch artist, "putting life into the portraits," as her admirers put it. 





    Mehak lives in Ayathmulla village of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district and is the daughter of a private school teacher.



    The teenager, who has been a school topper from childhood is now in 12th standard, but even with limited sources she making portraits 'worth admiring'. 



    She has been doing sketches and paintings since her childhood, but the limited sources are becoming a hurdle in achieving a dream she has been yearning for.




    Studying at Government School, she hasn’t lost her grip off on doing art. According to Mehak, she learnt Art designing during her school days when she was in Ist standard after drew a painting of a flower, since then ‘it became her hobby,’ she said. Mehak has been doing pretty well in drawing sketches especially portraits ever since, gradually honing her skills.




    Mehak is happy at the fact that the middle-class family is supportive and encourages her in every field and painting as well.




    Mehak said, “due to non-availability of art academy I faced a lot of problems in getting my work recognized or chiselled". 




    She puts, "I worked very hard to brush up my drawing skills and now by the grace of almighty, I can draw some good stuff", attributing her 'little success' to her mother whom she praises for being her first and best teacher. 




    "Whatever and wherever I am today, it's all because of my mom, she kept motivating me whenever I faced any difficult situation or witnessed a downfall".




    Mehak says she can draw paintings on paper mache, chinar Leaves, stones and other things as well. 



    With a desire to become a good artist, Mehak awaits local and administrative support so to fulfil her dream.
